Out the door

Here is one of Emilia's latest adventures.......she likes to get her purse and head out the door. It is very cute, she hangs the purse on her arm and waves "bye-bye" while opening the door. Now I have to make sure she does not escape, which she has managed to do before.

This is Emilia's first "real" Halloween. She got to dress up and go to a party at the park, and as you can see here she had tons of fun. They had a pumpkin patch, face painting, and a petting zoo!!!

My dad wanted to see the baby walking, so I got the camera out and tried to get her walking. For some reason she was not too happy about it. I could not stop laughing!!!! She was very mad, but at least you can see her walk!!!!!!!

Favorite Moments

Emilia is one!!!!! I still can not believe that she is one year old. It has been great.....we have had our ups and our downs, but having her in our life has been the greatest blessing!!!!

Motivation

Emilia has been hard at work trying to catch up with Quinn when it comes to walking. We have had many talks about the importance of walking............come to find out that the one thing that motivates this chunk is, who could have thought, FOOD.

Almost Ten Months?????

Emilia is almost ten months old!!!! It is unbelievable how fast she has grown. She is eating all kinds of new things and beginning to feed her self!!!! She has been doing great with finger foods but in the last couple of days she has managed to get her spoon from the plate to the mouth with food still on it!!!!! It was great to see her face when she realized what she had done. The cleanup, on the other hand, was no fun for me.
Another thing she has been getting very good at is the pulling her self up on anything and everything, a little nerve-wracking for me, but it is part of the growing up process!!!! She has been pushing chairs around the house, so we got her this new cart that she absolutely loves......she even gets mad if we take it away. I don't know how kids do it but she knew that to do with it as soon as we pulled it out of the box!!!!!!

Back to Work

I know it has been a while since I blogged, but life has been pretty busy!!!!! I went back to work, only two days a week, and Emilia has been going to day care on those days. I have to admit that it does not sound like two days is too much, but just a change in the routine can throw you out for a loop!!!! Emilia loves her "school", the teachers are very nice and friendly and I feel very comfortable leaving her there while I go to work, the only thing is that now she has constant runny noses.......I tell you, she gets better only to go back to school and get another one, and in more than one occasion, we end up catching whatever she brings home!!!! Other than that she has been bringing home art projects that she (her teachers) makes and our fridge is already running out of space!!!!
Her teachers say that she is very social and loves to p lay with the other kids, I am glad that she is gaining some independence, and learning all kinds of new things.

Oscar

We cannot forget about our first born!!! Oscar has been great with the arrival of the baby. From the beginning he has been very understanding of the new addition to the family and now that Emilia is more mobile, they play together and share each others toys!!!!

Latest Moves

Emilia is getting super strong!!!!! It almost feels like overnight she is turning into a grownup!!! In the last couple of days she has been doing this funny thing where she gets her butt all the way up in the air.



And last night she got up on her jumperoo and hung on for a few seconds.........she is so big!!!!!

First Time Alone with Dad

Last week I had a seminar in Indiana, which kept me away from 8 to 5. It was so hard to be away from the baby for that long......I have been working some, but never this long of a day!!!!!
Emilia got to hang out with daddy all day. I am happy to report that they both survived the long day, and had lots of fun!!!!! After I got home from my long day away, Emilia had discovered her voice!!!!! For some reason she decided that she wanted to talk. She probably felt like she had to tell me all the fun stuff she got to do with daddy and Oscar that day!!!!!

Emilia's Favorite Toys

Last week we put away the swing at got a new jumperoo!!! Emilia has outgrown her very favorite toy (the swing), so we figure the best thing we could do was to at least try to replace it with something to keep her entertained, and I think we might have found the right toy. She loves this thing!!!!





She also loves her books!!!!!

Going forward

Emilia has finally decided that going forward is a much more effective way of transportation!!!! After getting quite good at crawling backwards, she figured out how to go forward. Now she moves all over the place!!!! And by the way she is attracted to everything she is not supposed to play with, like the fireplace, all the cables and wires, and Oscars toys!!!

Finger Food Anyone?????

Emilia was told by Dr. Brown that she could start eating teething biscuits, so we decided today was the day!!!!
As you can see she really liked them!

First Easter

Another first. Emilia's first Easter was fun and low key. We went to church and later had dinner with the Burkes at their home. Emilia did great at church, she sat at the main auditorium with us for most of the time. I took her to Promiseland for a little bit to see how she would like it and she enjoyed playing with the other babies and of course putting somebody else's toys in her mouth. I think she heard somewhere that if you want to claim something as yours you just lick it!!!!!

Emilia goes swimming

Thank goodness for indoor pools!!!!!



We have had some big events lately....including a big snow storm that stranded us in Wisconsin for a couple of days. The good thing was that we were staying at a nice resort and we brought the wii, needless to say we played a lot and we are getting much better at it.






Emilia got to swim for the first time. At first she was not so sure (as you can see in the picture), but after a couple of minutes she got comfortable and she loved it. She splashed water around for a while and had a great night sleep after that.

Chicago Weather

Today the weather was GREAT. It was so nice, we got to go out for a nice stroll around the neighborhood, Emilia reacted as if she had never seen the sun, closing her eyes and sneezing as we exited the building. It was great, then it hit me, it was 53 degrees outside, do you know what we'd be doing in Arizona if it was 53????? We would stay in and complain about how cold it was. Things have changed.
This week was busy for us. We joined a mommy and baby group and we went to a play date on Thursday......Emilia had such a great time, she skipped her afternoon nap all together. Both me and Emilia made new friends and hope to see them again soon.

Emilia and Liam (her new friend) first held hands, them Liam scratched her and pulled her hair, so she pulled his back.......he was asking for it. It was great!!!!






Here is a picture of Emilia in her "city stroller" which she does not get too use very often due to the weather, but we are hoping that she gets to use it lots more now that the weather is getting a little better!!!!! As some of you might know, this weekend is St. Patrick's Day, big day here is Chicago. The river is dyed green and everyone is Irish (and drunk) for a day!!!!! Emilia would make a good Irish baby, she has the red hair going already!!!!!!I am looking forward to the green river, cus' we did not see it last year, It was too cold!!!!!

Emilia is getting bigger and bigger every day......soon she'll be crawling all over. In the last couple of days she has been practicing revving the engine and making some attempts to get going, though unsuccessful yet. She has been so hard at work that many nights she can't go to sleep working on this move!!!!!
